What is AI app development?

AI app development means using tools like Claude Code and Cursor to write part of the code, then having an engineer read and test the result. The build gets faster because the typing gets faster, not because the thinking is skipped.

The output is still a normal app: a codebase you own, tests, accounts, payments and a release in both stores. The AI is a tool in the build, not the product.

How does AI-assisted coding work here?

AI is good at the first draft of a screen and bad at knowing what must never happen. I split the work along that line.

Is AI-generated code safe to ship?

It can be, once someone checks it. The risks are predictable: keys left in the browser, missing permission checks, payments trusted because the phone says so, and data rules that only exist in the prompt.

I check those first, add tests around the flows that move money or personal data, and keep a person in the loop wherever an AI feature writes something a customer will read.

Can you finish an app built with Lovable, Bolt, Base44 or Replit?

Often yes. I read what the tool produced, keep the parts that are sound and replace the parts that will not survive real users. If the tool's limits are the reason you are stuck, I rebuild the app in React Native and Next.js and move your data and users across.

The cleanup guide covers how that decision gets made, and the rescue service covers taking over an app someone else started.

What does AI app development cost?

The same shape as any app: small jobs start at $50, and a full app is one fixed price after a free call. AI shortens the typing, so the build can be faster, but screens, payments, data and store rules still decide the number.

The model bill is separate from the build. I estimate it from published prices and your expected usage before anything starts, so there is no surprise after launch.

Who owns the app and the code?

You do. The repository, the developer accounts and the store listings are in your name. The AI tools are mine, and nothing in the app depends on a subscription you cannot cancel.
